How MRIKPA members are enjoying the Spring weather

Embracing Life with Renal Health Challenges: Support & Inspiration from MRIKPA

As members of the Manchester Royal Infirmary Kidney Patients’ Association (MRIKPA), we understand the unique challenges of living with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Whether you’re a patient, carer, or simply looking for kidney health information, our mission is to support, empower, and inspire you. Living with renal issues doesn’t mean limiting yourself—there are many ways to stay active, engaged, and connected to your community in Greater Manchester.

Staying Active with Gentle Outdoor Activities

If participating in this year’s Transplant Games isn’t quite up your street quite yet, regular physical activity, even in a gentle form, can help boost mood, improve circulation, and support overall well-being.

On a beautiful spring day, taking a short walk in a local park or engaging in light gardening can be a great way to enjoy the outdoors while managing CKD.

Manchester offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the fresh air and green spaces while keeping your kidney health in mind.

Always check: With your GP / Consultant before starting new exercise routines.

Start Small: Begin with short sessions and gradually increase duration as stamina builds

Make It Fun: Choose activities you enjoy to stay motivated.

Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water before, during, and after exercise
