Thank You to Our MRIKPA Volunteers This Volunteers’ Week 2026

For Volunteers' Week 2026 we want to say a simple thank you to our MRIKPA volunteers, the people whose time and kindness keep kidney patient support running across Greater Manchester.

This week is Volunteers’ Week, which runs across the UK from 1 to 7 June 2026, and it gives us a welcome chance to say something we can’t say often enough: thank you to our MRIKPA volunteers. The charity is run by volunteers, and everything we do for kidney patients across Greater Manchester rests on their time and their kindness.

When people picture a charity, they often think of the committee, and we are very proud of ours. But our MRIKPA volunteers reach beyond that small group.

Most of our volunteers are kidney patients, former patients, or the families who care for them. That is what makes the support feel different. It is not a service handed down from a distance, it is people helping others,  who understand the kidney journey from their own experiences.

Our volunteers give their time quietly and ask for nothing in return, and the honest truth is that there would be no MRIKPA without them. To everyone who has helped this year, in ways big and small, thank you. You make a real difference to people who need it.

David Coyle, Vice-Chair of MRIKPA
